Benefits for long-term unemployed going away

Benefits for long-term unemployed going away

With Idaho's unemployment rate dropping, long-term unemployment benefits will be ending as well, according to a story in the Idaho Press-Tribune.

Unemployment benefits that come strictly from the state last up to 26 weeks. But, with federal government programs in place, that total has skyrocketed up to 99 weeks if a state's unemployment rate is high enough to trigger it. With unemployment in the state dropping, that program will now be reduced from 99 weeks to 39 weeks, and a second program will be reduced from 20 weeks to zero.
