Otter signs bill closing Occupy Boise loophole

Otter signs bill closing Occupy Boise loophole

by

April 2, 2012

After legislation was passed earlier in the year aimed at evicting Occupy Boise from the Capitol Mall, a judge ruled that the tents from protesters could remain, but that the protesters themselves could not camp at night.

Subsequent legislation was brought that would allow the Department of Administration to regulate the properties. According to the Idaho Statesman, Gov. Butch Otter has signed the legislation into law.

Proponents of the the bill say that it fixes a loophole and doesn't allow protesters, for any advocacy group, to set up an encampment for however long it pleases.
