On Thursday, Gov. Butch Otter signed into law his Idaho Global Entrepreneurial Mission, or IGEM, according to the Idaho Statesman. IGEM is a program is intended to help research at universities grow, which in turn will help businesses in Idaho expand and develop.

The idea is to take the research from the universities and get it into commercial markets quickly, which in turn will attract businesses to Idaho and help the economy grow.
