The issue of wolves in Idaho has become a got topic the last few years in the Gem State, and the 2012 legislative session was no different. Sen. Jeff Siddoway, R-Terreton, pulled his bill back to committee on Tuesday after admitting tearfully that it could put wolves back onto the endangered species list and take them out of state control, according to the Idaho Statesman.

The bill would have allowed for ranchers to use night-vision scopes, air travel and live bait to kill wolves within 36 hours that had attacked property and domestic animals. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game, along with U.S. Rep. Mike Simpson, believe the bill would encourage petitions to get the wolves back onto the endangered species list, which would put control back into the hands of the federal government.

Siddoway, in withdrawing the bill, said wolves have eaten his sheep and killed his guard dogs.
