On Wednesday, the Idaho Supreme Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by House of Representatives Speaker Lawerence Denney, R-Midvale, and and state Republican chairman Norm Semanko. The lawsuit was filed because the two leaders felt it was well within their rights to dismiss two redistricting commission members--ones that they had appointed.
The attorney general, Lawrence Wasden, and the secretary of state, Ben Ysursa, both said the leaders were overstepping their authority. Denney and Semanko felt that the two members hadn't done enough to help the majority party in the process, though Gov. Butch Otter has come out in support of one of the commission members.
