House Bill 220

House Bill 220

by
Phil Haunschild
March 3, 2017

Bill Description: This bill would put cosmetologists without licenses back to work before House Bill 139 takes effect.

Rating: +1

Does it increase barriers to entry into the market? Examples include occupational licensure, the minimum wage, and restrictions on home businesses. Conversely, does it remove barriers to entry into the market?

Under the current licensing requirements, the Cosmetology Board prohibits some cosmetologists from doing business. House Bill 139 in this legislative session will fix this and other problems with the Barber Board, but it will not take effect until July 1. This bill creates exceptions for on-site styling services and demonstrations of hair styling equipment away from licensed premises, restoring work taken away by the state. (+1)
