Bill Description: Senate Bill 1314 would remove obsolete references and shift the powers and duties of regional behavioral health boards to regional health boards.
Rating: +1
Does it create, expand, or enlarge any agency, board, program, function, or activity of government? Conversely, does it eliminate or curtail the size or scope of government?
Senate Bill 1314 would amend and repeal more than a dozen sections of Idaho code dealing with the Department of Health and Welfare. It would remove references to the board of health and welfare and substate administrative regions.
It would also remove references to regional behavioral health boards, and effectively shift their powers and duties to existing regional health boards.
While none of these changes will meaningfully decrease the role government plays in healthcare (which remains far too large), they will eliminate some bureaucratic overhead, which could streamline processes and prevent duplication of efforts.
