Chapter 60, Title 67, Idaho Code, was created in 1970 to provide statutory authority for the “Commission on Women’s Programs,” which was originally established in 1965 under executive order by Governor Robert E. Smylie, as the “Governor’s Commission on the Status of Women.” It was renamed the “Idaho Women's Commission” in 1997 and functionally dissolved in 2009 when it ceased to be funded by the Idaho Legislature.

Senate Bill 1236 would repeal Chapter 60, Title 67, Idaho Code, removing these obsolete references from code and closing the door on one of Idaho’s inherently discriminatory institutions.
