Senate Bill 1308 — Education, adoption

Senate Bill 1308 — Education, adoption

by
Ronald M. Nate, Ph.D.
February 16, 2024

Bill Description: Senate Bill 1308 would require that any local school district that decides to have a family life and sex education program to include information on adoption for the well-being of a child.

Rating: +1

Does the bill create more transparency or accountability in public education institutions?

Senate Bill 1308 would create Section 33-142, Idaho Code, to describe and define “adoption education.” It would also require adoption education be provided in any state education entity, “wherever and whenever contraception is discussed or dispensed, or both, or sexually transmitted diseases or sexually transmitted infections are discussed or tested for, or both.”

The bill, therefore, improves the practices of education institutions that choose to engage in education and actions relating to sex education that involve contraception and sexually transmitted diseases (or infections). Full disclosure and discussion will help students make informed decisions and could save them and their children from harm or future regrets.
