Bill Description: House Bill 605 would add additional regulations to the existing requirement for vehicle dealers to receive "continuing education."
Rating: -1
Does it give government any new, additional, or expanded power to prohibit, restrict, or regulate activities in the free market? Conversely, does it eliminate or reduce government intervention in the market?
Idaho law contains a pointless and unnecessary mandate that vehicle dealers attend "prelicensing" classes and "continuing education" programs. These cronyistic demands serve no function other than to enrich the providers of this content.
House Bill 605 would amend Section 49-1637, Idaho Code, to add a new regulation requiring that the classes be "conducted with live, interactive, instructor-led training, whether in person or otherwise." This regulation will prevent the use of recorded instruction, thus ensuring larger payouts for the companies, individuals or organizations selling these classes.
