Idaho prison lawsuit could cost $1.6 million ... to taxpayers

In order to settle a decades-long lawsuit over care given at a prison in Boise, increases in staff and other requirements must be met, according to the Idaho Press-Tribune. What makes this interesting is that even though the Department of Corrections is insured, this type of settlement is not.

Basically, the Legislature will have to approve the extra funding in the budget to pay for the $1.6 million, which means the money will be coming from taxpayers.
