House Bill 53 — Electronic notices, government entities

House Bill 53 — Electronic notices, government entities

Bill Description: House Bill 53 gives government entities the option to publish public notices on their websites rather than in newspapers.

Rating: +1

Does it increase government spending (for objectionable purposes) or debt? Conversely, does it decrease government spending or debt?

House Bill 53 creates Section 60-106B, Idaho Code, to allow government entities the option to publish public notices or publications on their websites rather than in newspapers. If all government entities in Idaho choose to use this option, it would save millions of dollars every year.

Additionally, given the wide availability of internet access and internet-capable devices, it is likely that a greater number of Idahoans will have access to digital public notices than have access to those published in newspapers.
