Food stamp load overwhelming grocery stores at first of month

Food stamp load overwhelming grocery stores at first of month

With more than 230,000 Idaho residents receiving food stamps the first day of the month and most of them using them within a day or two, Idaho grocers are asking the state to stagger the days food stamps are issued to relieve the burden on grocery lines.

A bill to do that passed the Idaho House in 2012, but did not receive a hearing in the Senate says a story in the Idaho Statesman.
