To require all individuals who apply extensions to obtain a cosmetologist or esthetician license, SB 1343 would significantly increase the barrier to entry into the profession. To obtain an esthetician’s license, an individual would have to receive at least 600 hours of schooling from an accredited institution. To practice as a cosmetologist, a person would have to receive at least 1,600 hours of schooling.

The cost in money and time to obtain this schooling is substantial, which would bar many from practicing in this profession.

SB 1343 would require that individuals pay $100 in fees annually to the Board in order to obtain a license which would allow them to apply eyelash or eyebrow extensions.
