Earlier today, Governor Butch Otter released a Youtube video showing his speech at the Idaho State Capitol Rededication ceremony, held January 9th on the Capitol's front steps.  Speaker of the House Lawerence Denney, R-Midvale, and Senate Pro Tem Bob Geddes, R-Soda Springs, also spoke during the re-opening ceremony, but their speeches have not been posted.

"For 100 years, this building... has represented the freedom of the people of Idaho.  May it represent that for the next hundred years," Otter declared during his speech given before the crowd gathered to celebrate the historic day.

The video also features Idaho Capitol Commission Chairman Andrew Erstad presenting Otter with a ceremonial key to the building.  The symbolic key was made from wood taken from a tree planted by President Benjamin Harrison in 1891.

"I now declare the Capitol building officially open to conduct the people's business," said Otter before removing himself and his wife, Lori, up the steps and into the building.

You can view the video here, or you can check out IdahoReporter.com's slideshow of the newly-renovated building.
