Bill Description: House Bill 592 (H592) would require hospitals that accept Medicaid to collect and report the immigration status of patients.

Rating: +1

Does it in any way restrict public access to information related to government activity or otherwise compromise government transparency, accountability, or election integrity? Conversely, does it increase public access to information related to government activity or increase government transparency, accountability, or election integrity?

H592 would require every hospital that accepts Medicaid to collect and report the immigration status of patients. In effect, H592 would promote transparency by granting both the public and legislature a fuller picture of the total burden illegal immigration has on Idaho’s public services.
