Senate Bill 1075 — City elections, districts (+1)

Senate Bill 1075 — City elections, districts (+1)

Bill Description: Senate Bill 1075 would lower the population threshold for which cities are required to hold city council elections by district.

Rating: +1

Does it in any way restrict public access to information related to government activity or otherwise compromise government transparency, accountability, or election integrity? Conversely, does it increase public access to information related to government activity or increase government transparency, accountability, or election integrity?

Senate Bill 1075 would amend Section 50-707A, Idaho Code, to lower the population threshold for which cities are required to hold city council elections by district rather than citywide from 100,000 to 25,000.

District-based city elections provide more accurate representation, especially as cities expand and annex nearby land.
