Idaho Freedom Foundation is the premier free market research institute in Idaho. Officially organized in 2008, Idaho Freedom Foundation seeks to advance conservative principles including limited government, free markets, and self-reliance.
Our research, journalism, education, and advocacy dovetail to help Idaho policymakers make better decisions, rooted in conservative principles, so that Idahoans will be better off. IFF’s work has been credited with saving taxpayers millions of dollars, eliminating failed government programs, and holding politicians accountable like never before in the history of the state.
We are expanding our team by hiring a research assistant to scale our research capabilities. The research assistant will engage in research, writing, legislative education, and public and media communication on mainly education issues. The ideal candidate will be a passionate, entrepreneurial, highly motivated self-started with an interest in education policy reform.
The full-time position will be based in IFF’s Boise office.
Responsibilities will include:
- Effectively communicating the foundation’s policy recommendations to key stakeholders, including legislators, their staff, and the media
- Monitoring and testifying before various legislative committees and state agencies
- Researching, analyzing, and making recommendations on the foundation’s policy issues
- Working with allied organizations
- Writing policy briefs, perspectives, research studies, commentaries, testimony, and blog postings
- Prepare press releases and statements for distribution as needed
Qualifications:
- 1-3 years of relevant legislative and policy experience
- Proficiency in education policy will be favorably considered
- Proficiency in statistics and/or education finance will be favorably considered
- Ability to effectively research and advocate the foundation’s conservative free-market principles and recommendations
- Bachelor’s degree required; a relevant graduate degree welcome (Master’s in Economics, MPP/MPA, etc.)
- Strong research, writing, editing, and public presentation skills
- Experience with basic software applications such as those in the Microsoft Office, Excel and Adobe
- Experience with software applications such as Stata preferred
