And now, ladies and gentlemen, the moment you have all been waiting for. It’s time to announce the winner of our first ever Statist of the Quarter! The votes have been tabulated and kept under guard until this moment, the big reveal. Here again are the nominees.
No 1: the Idaho Statesman editorial board, for whining about Ada County Commissioners Rod Beck and Ryan Davidson.
No. 2: Bob Kustra, for his column hating on Congressman Russ Fulcher.
3: Mike Simpson and Bruce Newcomb, for wanting to continue the state of emergency
4: Sen. C. Scott Grow, for a constitutional amendment that would have put the federal Food and Drug Administration right into the state constitution.
5: Mike Simpson, again, but this time for proposing the breaching of the Snake River dams to save salmon.
6: Greg Chaney and Brooke Greene for their bills to violate free speech with their bills on targeted picketing.
7: 36 House members who voted to continue funding Idaho government television.
8: Sen. Carl Crabtree: for his college and university budget that would have continued funding social justice indoctrination in Idaho’s higher ed system.
And 9: Rep. Rick Youngblood, for lying about his low Freedom Index score.
In second place, with 23.9% of the vote, Sen. Carl Crabtree! Carl, congratulations. And, by the way, Carl continues to lie about his support of his bill to continue funding social justice indoctrination. More evidence that Carl Crabtree earned every bit of that 23.9%.
And the winner, with 39.4% of the vote … our first ever Statist of the Quarter is … Congressman Mike Simpson! For putting Idahoans, Idaho jobs, and Idaho’s economy in grave peril on the off chance that removing the dams on the Snake River might or might not save salmon. We don’t know if it will work, but, hey … Let’s give it a try anyway because why not? Mike’s a member of Congress and he and Nancy Pelsoi get to decide whether people’s livelihoods are turned upside down. Well done Mike. Can we play that clip one more time?
Yeah. It’s really like that. What a statist. What a statist. Now, this is only the quarter finals. Mike will be back to compete for the Statist of the Year 2021. It’s going to be epic.
Remember to keep sending in your Statist nominees so that they continue to get the recognition that they deserve. Until next time.
