How would you promote rigorous academic instruction and excellence in your school district?
My child is only in the third grade, so I can only speak to what I see. I think it’s important to see more parent involvement in the classrooms. We definitely could use smaller classes, teacher retention, and better teacher pay.
How do you define Critical Race Theory? When implemented in school policies and curriculum, do you think Critical Race Theory differs from simply “teaching history?”
Critical race theory is nothing but a bunch of BS, and will impose guilt and shame on our children. It teaches them that they are guilty of racism just because of their skin color. This type of thinking only breeds more hatred ,and more racism , and more social division amongst people. History that’s what’s important . Teaching our children what The struggles tribulations and triumphs that America went through to get to where are today.
How do you define Social Emotional Learning (SEL)? Would you encourage the implementation of any SEL model in your school district? If so, which model and why?
Define SEL is nothing more than a brainwashing program. That has an agenda to get our kids to believe and become activist or brainwashed and has no place in our schools
How would you respond to the Idaho State Board and Department of Education’s recent dissemination of resources such as the SEL Roadmap for Reopening Schools, which argues that schools should adopt anti-racist practices, focus on social justice, and conduct staff-wide implicit bias trainings? Should teachers be required to attend these kinds of trainings?
I would say it’s garbage and let’s get back to the fundamental basics of education, and as for teachers being required to attend these kinds of training, definitely NOT!!!
Should your school district be required to teach a sex education curriculum? If so, should this curriculum include instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity? Should parents and guardians be required to provide consent before their children participate in any sex education curriculum?
I don’t think that schools should be required to teach sex education. I do not think that schools should even teach sexual orientation and gender identity. Parents definitely need to be involved and have maximum involvement.
How should school districts respond to the Idaho School Boards Association’s recommendation that transgender students be allowed to use the bathroom of the gender with which they identify?
They should respond NO
Do you support mask mandates in schools as a COVID-19 mitigation strategy? Do you support implementation of any other policies or practices designed to mitigate the effects of COVID-19?
I do not support masks, or mandatory vaccinations. Masks should be at the discretion of the parent of the child that’s attending school. I believe if your child is sick keep them home, if a family member they’ve been exposed to has Covid keep them home. And I’m in support of other practices being used in keeping the schools cleaner and sanitized. Not just for COVID-19, but for the general health of the students in the school against other sicknesses as well.
