Bill Description: This bill would require all agencies established by executive order of the governor to abide by the Idaho Open Meeting Law.

Idaho governors have established 28 agencies by executive order, including the Idaho Criminal Justice Commission and the Workforce Development Council. These committees and councils are not subject to the state’s open meeting law. This law requires other public bodies to post notices of when and where they meet, their agendas, notices of public hearings and minutes of past meetings.

This bill would expand the definition of “public agencies” to include all those created by executive order. The bill would compel a higher level of transparency and accountability from these agencies and provide more opportunity for public input. (+1)
