The second day of convention work has begun for delegates at the Idaho State Democratic Convention in Worley.  The event is being held at the Coeur d'Alene Casino, seated just north of the small town of Worley, approximately 30 minutes south of Coeur d'Alene.

On its first day the convention featured a campaign speech by Stan Olson, the Democratic candidate for superintendent of public instruction, as well as a presentation by Oregon lawmaker Jefferson Smith, who encouraged conference attendees to enact policies and practices that would engage younger voters.  Delegates also began work on crafting the party's platform, an effort which will be finalized Saturday as the party as a whole decides which policies it will adopt for the coming years.

Saturday will feature several high-profile speeches, such as a stump speech by Democratic gubernatorial candidate Keith Allred, who faces Republican Gov. Butch Otter in the fall.  Congressman Walt Minnick, the only Democrat among Idaho's congressional delegation, will not be attending Saturday's events, but his wife, A.K. Lienhart-Minnick, is slated to speak to the Women's Caucus Saturday morning.  The convention wraps up Saturday night with a gala banquet after the party has finalized its platform and completed its business.  Former Congressman Pat Williams, a Democrat who represented Montana in the U.S. House of Representatives for nine terms, is scheduled to give the keynote address at the banquet.

In addition to those offeringS, delegates will also receive trainings in proper delivery of campaign speeches, social media strategies and techniques, as well as more voter file training.  IdahoReporter.com will feature video interviews with Allred and Olson Saturday.
